Abstract
AimsRoles: to investigate the effect of astragaloside IV on L-type calcium currents (ICa,L) and exploring the mechanisms of astragaloside IV’s cardioprotective effects.
Main Main mMethods: we directly measured the ICa,L in the adult rat cardiac myocytes exposed to astragaloside IV using standard whole-cell patch-clamp recording technique.
Key findings: Our results showed that astragaloside IV exerted inhibitory effects on the ICa,L of the single adult rat cardiac myocytes.
Significance: The current density was reduced by about 32% after exposure of the cells to astragaloside IV (1 µmol/L) for 10 min, from the control value of 8. 6 ± 1.3 pA/pF to 7.5 ± 0.5 pA/pF (n=7, p
