(Submit Articles) Last week we made an important effort to summarize and guide you through the process by which the BCS chooses its No. 1 team each week. We even went far enough as to make some pointers on how the AP poll works. Although it is not taken into consideration for the BCS Rankings, the AP Poll is still the most prestigious, human based poll in the nation, so we went on to briefly explain how that poll works. Now, what does that mean for the NCAA Football betting fan, well that’s when it can get tricky.
For starters, so far this season, the No.1 rank hasn’treally been so much a sign of a team’s great overall performance, but some sort of indelible omen that forces it to lose its winning streak has come. So Auburn now has to do what Alabama, Ohio State and Oklahoma couldn’t: make it to No. 1 and stay there.
The No.1 ranked team has fall in the last three consecutive weeks. Not only would Auburn have to deal with this No. 1 curse, but, hit the road and visit none other then Ole Miss. And then there is the strength of the schedule to put into the mix bag. The Auburn Tigers have had a very demanding couple of weeks that have boosted up its performance and stamina, but have also played very physically demanding matches that could be now their worst enemy. The motivation is there: but is the fuel still plenty?
Auburn has already played two nationally ranked teams this month. First they took down No. 6 LSU and then finished off No. 12 Arkansas proving that the Tigers are a solid contestant when playing at home. And yet they now have to hit the road and play at Ole Miss. Here is the thing. I have a feeling that the Tigers are in serious need of some rest, and it is certainly not happening this week. The Auburn Tigers is one of the four teams in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) that’s scheduled to play its 9th consecutive game this weekend. That is 9 weeks without a BYE week and coming from two consecutive games against nationally ranked teams.
As of press time, Auburn is expected to hold on to the No.1 spot of the BCS rankings. If not in the best odds considering what happened to Oklahoma, Alabama and Ohio State, the Auburn Tigers are a -7 point favorite on the spread against Mississippi. Now, the chains are expected to be moving quite a bit as the line movers at NCAA Football betting industry leaders Betias.com have set the total at over/under 61 flat.
Key for the Auburn Tigers success rest mostly in what quarterback Cam Newton can put together on the offensive end. Should the Tigers be able to keep on with their winning streak against Mississippi, things will only go uphill from there. The Tigers will go on to face Georgia at home on November 13 and then get its well-deserved BYE week. But sure enough, the Tigers can put their guard down as the following week they will have to face no other then the Crimson Tide.

(Submit Articles) Things are mixing up quite nicely atop the NCAA football season AP ranks. And this week was certainly key in the changes that have now sent the Ohio State Buckeyes a top of the charts. Let’s start with the Alabama Crimson Tide. They had been atop the rankings for quite a while now, but the team’s lost to South Carolina, this Saturday, has certainly hurt their rank.

Here is the thing, not only did South Carolina pulled an dramatic upset against the Crimson Tide, (let’s not forget that the Crimson Tide was giving up to -7 points against the spread) but finished with Alabama’s 19-game winning streak. This is the first time that Alabama’s losses a game since the 2009 Sugar Bowl. And despite head coach Saban’s talent, the great performance that Mark Ingram had last week against Florida, and the solid defense that had been characteristic of the Tide, South Carolina won on fair grounds 35-21 on Saturday.

The AP polls kept on rolling as Ohio State received 34 first place votes. While Alabama’ lost its streak, Ohio State was sweeping Indiana 38-10, keeping up with their 6-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play, as they are the dominating team not only in the Big Ten conference, but in the Nation.

Oregon, received 15 first-place votes and Boise State got 8. Texax Christian University, TCU, received one vote, and despite not playing this weekend, the Oklahoma Sooners received two votes. Now, this is quite a change, because once you do the numbers, you come to realize that Ohio State is now No.1, followed by Oregon, Boise State and TCU. Now, for the first time in a long while, let’s call it a decade, it seems that No. 5 Nebraska is actually could be in their way to actually putting on a fight for the National Championship.

If you are into NCAA football you might have noticed that this Top-5 AP poll is missing something: The SEC teams. This is the first time since November 2nd, 2008, that neither Florida nor Alabama, are taking the No.1 spot in the rankings. The Southeastern Conference had dominated the AP polls during 29 consecutive weeks. Now, giving Florida’s under-par performance, and Alabama’s first lost of the season, Auburn is not the highest rated SEC team in the nation.

This is certainly a refreshing change of pace for the Buckeyes. The Buckeyes had not been this high in the AP polls since the 2007 final regular season poll. At the end, LSU went on to defeat the Buckeyes in the BCS National Championship Bowl game. This was not only a bit unexpected, but you must take into account that this was the first time a team won the National Championship with two losses in the regular season.

Now, may the Buckeyes keep up with their good work and, they could very well be on their way to yet another BCS National Championship. Now, we are going to keep an eye out, as Oklahoma is expected to have one heck of a game against Iowa State. Here is the thing. Oklahoma is now 5-0, and may they defeat Iowa State who is 3-3 so far into the season. A win here might kept on pushing the lines up, and launch Oklahoma into the top 3.

(Submit Articles) These two teams have been the Big12 dominant forces when it comes down to NCAA football. The series is considered to be one of the greatest rivalries in American sports. When it comes to the Big12 perhaps only the Rivalry that the Texas Longhons hold against the Texas A&M Aggies, and the Rivalry between the Sooners and the Oklahoma State Cowboys can match the media attention and the crowds this event carries on.
Since 1945, the two teams have managed to arrive on this date ranked among the top 25 teams in the nation, which makes this even significant not only among the Big12 conference teams, but an important and nationally televised sporting event. Now, six of the last 10 Red River Rivalry games have included at least one team playing in the Bowl Championship Series, including the national titles won by the Sooners in 2000 and the Longhorns in 2005.
If placed under a National scenario, perhaps only the Navy-Army game and the Michigan-Ohio State series have a major impact on NCAA sports. It is always a game that attracts a lot of wagering action, as the teams are known to go out and give on the best show they possibly can.
As of press time, the Sooners are a -3½ point favorite on the spread. Totals will be opened later on the week. Even though the game is played in the state of Texas, the Fairgrounds in Texas are considered to be a neutral site. Until 2015, both schools will play the game at the Fair Park. It is a very important event, as some studies have established that the hosting town could see revenues of up to $17 million annually to local businesses.
The Longhorns come from somewhat of an embarrassing game against UCLA. The polls had Texas as No.1 before their stunning home loss against UCLA. Here is the thing; losing against a unranked team is a blow for the Longhorns institution. But losing against an unranked team while playing in Austin, of all places, hurts even more.
Now, the Longhorns have to get their act together, otherwise Oklahoma is going to crush the heck out of them in this Saturday’s game. The longhorns dropped in the AP poll from 7th to No. 21. A lose against the Sooners would hurt their aspirations to make it into the Bowl Championship Series.
On the other hand, the Oklahoma Sooners should be aware that the Longhorns have to redeem themselves with their fans. No matter where you stand in regards to their performance, losing like they did to UCLA is unacceptable. If their players have a strong sense of self-respect, they are going to bring down their A-game into this Red River Rivalry showdown.
If you are looking for a key-secret ingredient for this game, this is probably the right perspective. Oklahoma is expected to win by 3.5 points on the spread. The Sooners have had a fairly good season in both conference and non-conference play. It is the Longhorns who have to come and turn their team around if they expect to be among the best college football teams in the nation.

(Submit Articles) The South Eastern Conference has a King. There is no doubt that it head coach Nick Saban’s team which dominates that conference as the Alabama football team whooped the University of Florida. It seems that the Gators are not great swimmers when it comes to dealing with the Crimson Tide. This is one of the fiercest rivalries among NCAA football teams. But this time around, there was not much of a fight. The game was all Alabama.
Mark Ingram, last year’s Heisman Trophy ““Alabama’s first, by the way-, came out to punish the Florida Gators defense. He was a vital part of the 31-6 crushing of the Alabama Crimson tide over Florida. He completed two-touchdowns, completed 12 carriages for a very decent 47 yards and proved once again that he is as swift, agile, and fast as you could expect from a player that could very soon start playing on Sundays.
Urban Meyer has yet to figure out a way to keep Nick Saban’s boys from ruining his tactic plans. As a matter of fact, in his six years in front of the Gators, it has been the Alabama Crimson Tide the team in charge of serving him his most lopsided defeats. The Florida Gators lost by 28 points in Tuscaloosa in 2005 and by 19 points in last years SEC Conference Championship game last year. This time around, Meyer couldn’tfind a way to keep the Tide from devastating its defense.
Be it from the air raids conducted by Greg McElroy, who completed 11 of 17 attempts for 84 yards and no interceptions, or from the game-changing skills shown on the ground play, Alabama was simply superior. Except for the passing yards, were Florida was more dominant (but certainly no too effective) with its 202 passing yards thanks to John Brantley, when it came down to moving the ball down the court, the Tide completed 170 rushing yards, a good chunk of those in the hands of the talented Ingram. The Gators, on the other hand, responded with 79 rushing yards while giving away 4 turnovers.
This is Alabama’s 19th straight victory. The defending champions are looking as strong and versatile as ever before. The Bryant-Denny stadium was hosting somewhere around 101,802 fans. Alabama has claimed 13 National Titles, 22 SEC titles.
Last year Alabama went 12-0 under Nick Saban’s orders. The team then went on to defeat the Florida Gators in the 2010 BCS National Championship Game at the Rose Bowl 32-13. Last season, Alabama defeated 4 ranked teams in their flawless regular season. They could have what it takes to repeat the feat.
Mark Ingram is looking strong as always. He could very well be on his way to his second Heisman Trophy. He is the most versatile and strong NCAA College Football running back in the nation. Might he be able to stay healthy and avoid any more troubles with his knee (which by the way, kept him from playing in his first two games as a Junior) he might be working his way back to the top of the sport. He proved he was back in his two feet with his great game against Duke. Now, if there where any doubts, he has utterly made a mess out of the Gators D. It might just be another great season for the Crimson Tide.
