The Fasano group has announced recently that they are again starting work on the development of their neighboring building. The development will create a further 20 guest rooms, including a huge presidential suite (to respond to the increasingly large entourages of the increasing number of international celebrities who are visiting the city), as well as a full sized rooftop swimming pool and another bar, which as with the Fasanoâ€â„¢s Barreto in Sao Paulo, or Londra in Rio de Janeiro, will undoubtedly quickly become a popular haunt Brazilian and foreign celebrities alike. Although they have been in possession of the property for some years, the project was put on hold during the recent â€Ëœcrisisâ€â„¢ times, but has been taken up again with gusto in response in particular to the increasing number of leisure visitors to the city. According to luxury travel company Dehoucheâ€â„¢s concierge, who makes a point of always having his finger on the pulse of this trend-setting city, Fasano insiders have been saying that they could have sold these new rooms twice over in the last few months (even though its low season), and 40% of requests have been from international (largely US) tourists, travelling for pleasure not business.

Sao Paulo may long have been the premier business destination in South America, in its role as the continentâ€â„¢s economic powerhouse, but it is only in recent years that tourists have begun to appreciate the cityâ€â„¢s more laid back side. For much the same reasons people visit New York, the main draw to Sao Paulo is its restaurants, nightclubs and plentiful culture – from the ever bigger SP fashion week, open-air concerts in Ibirapuera park, street theatre on Avenida Paulista, to London style impromptu but very much gentrified â€Ëœravesâ€â„¢ in abandoned warehouses.

As always national tourism is leading the trend, also encouraged by a current TV campaign from the Sao Paulo council, but the rest of the world hasnâ€â„¢t been slow to catch on, and Dehouche is receiving an ever increasing number of requests to include the city in their itineraries - surprisingly mostly from city dwellers themselves in New York, LA and London. As always Dehouche clients are armed with an up to date list of goings on in the city to make sure they are in all the right places at the right time, and nowhere else does a concierge service come in quite as handy, whether its securing tickets to the opening of the latest art sensation, or booking a table at one of the cityâ€â„¢s top nightclubs.

Dehouche will hand pick the perfect hotel room or private villa for you, and if you fancy your own speedboat no problem, Dehouche has all the connections and know how to make sure you get right to the heart of the action.

>

Brazil is a land of incredible contrasts. For most visitors the first point of reference is the seductive city of Rio de Janeiro, a melting pot of cultures; where Candomble mixes with Catholicism; volleyball is practiced with a passion almost equal to that of football; days of intense blue skies are followed by intense tropical downpours which last as long as it takes to drink a cold draught beer in your chosen place of refuge; jaw dropping natural spectacles are juxtaposed with dizzying skyscrapers and where the ubiquitous beat of Samba, itself a fusion of African and European influences, rules the dance floor.

At first sight Rio may seem to have it all and the pursuit of pleasure in this enchanting city is by no means an arduous one. Nevertheless, Rio is just one face of Brazil and there are many others just waiting to be discovered. Take a tailor made trip with luxury travel experts Dehouche and with their inside knowledge they can help you co-ordinate your journey around this vast country, taking in a select sample of the incredible diversity on offer.

Once you’ve broken in your “ËœHavaianas’ in Rio and have started thinking it outrageous that they’re not really suitable attire for exploring Rio’s business district (despite the fact they can be worn for just about any other occasion) then perhaps it’s time to venture up the coast to Bahia, a place where timepieces are almost superfluous and moving from your hammock to make another caipirinha, is considered a test of endurance. Succumb to the allure of the region’s charming colonial cities and unrivalled stretches of white sand beaches, whilst soaking up the vestiges of an African influenced culture and Dehouche can assure you, you’ll find it’s easy to leave your hammock after all. Bahia is home to some of Brazil’s finest beaches and so it is no wonder that Dehouche select it for a high proportion of their honeymoon clientele ““ it’s remote and romantic.

Time for a change of pace? Spin round the dynamic metropolis of Sao Paulo, taking advantage of the incredible array of restaurants in South America’s largest and undeniably cosmopolitan city. Next, let Dehouche race you down to Iguassu to marvel at the awe inspiring natural beauty of one of the world’s most spectacular waterfalls.

Head northwards again to spot Jaguars, alligators and anteaters in the Pantanal, the world’s largest wetland area and South America’s premier wildlife sanctuary (not a word to the Amazon). Lastly, allow Dehouche to organise your jeep across the uninterrupted beauty of Jericoacoara’s sand dunes, interspersed with azure freshwater lagoons, eventually reaching the tiny fishing village largely untouched by tourism and home to one of the world’s most beautiful beaches (just ask the Washington Post)

The beauty of your luxury holiday with Dehouche is the freedom to choose which destinations to combine; Dehouche take the sweat out of the organization, yet you remain in control of your itinerary, even once you are on the road. Based in Brazil themselves, Dehouche are on the ground to help you with any last minute whims that take your fancy and have a free concierge service manned 24hours a day in Rio (and Buenos Aires for those in Argentina) to cater for clients every need.

Let Dehouche arrange your luxury boutique hotel and enjoy a whole host of insider tips on where to truly escape from it all on your honeymoon.

One of the delights of visiting other countries is the gastronomic licence to try just about everything that pleases the senses in the name of being open to new cultures. If you find yourself on holiday in Brazil, it would be almost rude not to experiment with the national tipple, Caipirinha. A fiery blend of lime, sugar, ice and a generous dose of “ËœCachaça’ the national spirit made from distilled sugar cane, its intoxicating effect is alarmingly quick to take hold. Just a few of these devilish drinks and you’ll soon be convinced you’re the next samba sensation, as you sway precariously near the edge of the balcony. Don’tsay you haven’tbeen warned.

So how best to enjoy caipirinha without spending the next day lying in your hotel room sweating cachaça from your every pore as you bemoan the worst headache you’ve suffered in living history? Locally based luxury travel experts Dehouche recommend asking the bartender exactly which type of cachaça they use and steering clear of the cheaply made “Ëœ51’ which can bring on a headache at the first sip. Dehouche suggest instead asking for either “ËœSagatiba’ (Sah-gah-chee-bah) or Ypioca’ (ih-pee-oh-cah). Dehouche can’tguarantee you’ll wake up with a clear head if you imbibe excessively, but your choice of liquor brand could help to reduce your suffering.

These days it’s common to find new takes on the original such as “ËœCaipivodka’ (made with vodka instead of cachaça surprisingly enough) or “ËœCaipisake’ (made with guess what?) much to the distaste of many purists. Such is the controversy that this has even sparked a campaign against the use of “Ëœalien substances’ in the traditional caipirinha. Tasty as these alternatives may sometimes be; if you’re looking for the legitimate version, Dehouche can tell you the best place to find it, without the addition of “Ëœforeign ingredients’. Fortunately, there’s not yet a campaign against the use of other fruit combinations and bartenders keep coming up with mouth watering new recipes. In addition to the classic and unfailingly moreish lime, Dehouche’s favourites include: lime and ginger; strawberry and basil; pineapple and mint, and lychee. (The last three not altogether though please)

If you really develop a taste for cachaça, Dehouche can even help you arrange a private tasting at a secret address in Rio. Here the owners will invite you to tantalise your taste buds with some of Brazil’s finest aged cachaças, which are best drunk without the addition of any ingredient, foreign or otherwise.

Let Dehouche arrange your luxury boutique hotel and enjoy a whole host of insider tips on where to truly escape from it all on your honeymoon.

Positioned enviably close to the equator, with some of Brazilâ€â„¢s most beautiful beaches and a fascinating history there are many reasons to visit Salvador da Bahia, say luxury Brazilian travel experts Dehouchewho tailor vacations and honeymoons in Brazil. Though Salvador receives the second highest number of foreign visitors after Rio, it doesnâ€â„¢t have anything like the high profile Rio has abroad. If Rio is Brazil for you, Salvador represents an altogether different reality say Dehouche. Some facts you may find surprising

1) Salvador was one of the first cities to be established in Brazil and was the countryâ€â„¢s capital until it was succeeded by Rio de Janeiro in 1763. Today it is the third most populous city in Brazil after São Paulo and Rio.

2) Situated on a near triangular peninsula that protects the bay of all saints from the Atlantic Ocean, Salvador can be separated into the â€Ëœcidade baixaâ€â„¢ (lower town) of the port and the â€Ëœcidade altaâ€â„¢ (upper town) Salvadorâ€â„¢s historical centre, which includes the today UNESCO protected Pelourinho. The two areas have been connected by the Elevador Lacerda since 1873, an art deco construction, which has become a symbol of the city. Not only does the elevator make navigating the city much simpler, it also affords stunning views of the marina.

3) Rioâ€â„¢s carnival may be the most famous internationally, but Salvadorâ€â„¢s carnival is gaining increased exposure and Rio residents Dehouche must concede that today it is actually bigger than Rioâ€â„¢s. Baianos certainly know how to throw a party and whenever you choose to visit, Salvadorâ€â„¢s streets seem to be enjoying some kind of colourful celebration; from the Festa do Bonfim to the Festa de Yemanjá, the massive convergence of cultures and traditions here means thereâ€â„¢s always an excuse for costume and revelry.

4) Salvador is credited as being the birthplace of modern forms of Capoeira, an Afro-Brazilian dance come martial art which was originally banned amongst African slaves. Capoeira withstood the prohibition and in the former half of this century masters like Bimba and Pastinha founded Capoeira schools in Salvador which helped to standardise and popularise Capoeira not only throughout Brazil, but all over the world. If youâ€â„¢re curious to learn more, Dehouche can arrange a visit to one of these schools, where regular performances are still held.

5) Salvador is gaining increasing recognition as a world arts centre, receiving exhibitions that bypass even Rio. Towards the end of 2009 the Musée Rodin Brasil opened in Salvador and â€ËœLe Penseurâ€â„¢ himself made the journey across the Atlantic in honour of the occasion. Not only that, but he loved Salvador so much he decided to stay for a full three years.

There’s little contest between Brazil and Argentina when it comes to beaches. However, fortunately for Argentinian sun seekers, this does not mean they are obliged to patronise the neighbour they love to hate so well when the holiday season arrives. Heading instead to Argentina’s other, slightly smaller neighbour to the East, Uruguay.

Want to know where in Uruguay those who like the finer things go? Then let luxury Latin America travel experts Dehouche direct you: Pass the once glamorous, aesthetics obsessed and now overdeveloped Punta del Este; letting the gossip drift on the breeze as you accelerate past the yacht choked harbour and the faded glory of the Miami cityscape fades into the distance. Continue on past brash la Barra and leave the bland high rises behind as you head somewhere altogether more exclusive.

35km later, you finally arrive at the fantasy playground of the rich, famous and downright brazen. If Búzios is Brazil’s answer to St Tropez, then Jose Ignacio is Argentina’s answer to Búzios. Dubbed the “ËœHamptons’ of South America, this secret destination of the bohemian jet set, is these days graced by the likes of Naomi Watts, Gisele Bundchen, Mario Testino and Shakira and boasts whimsical houses belonging to the likes of Martin Amis.

The problem is that this place is still so undiscovered; it’s difficult to know you’ve arrived at all. Refreshingly unspoilt and unassuming, with the wild backdrop of the Uruguayan Pampas and not an ATM or visa sign in sight, you may be wondering exactly how the wealthy dispose of their cash here and just why you’ve travelled so far.

Electricity only arrived in Jose Ignacio in the 1990s, but the international visitors were quick on its heels. For just two months a year, this once sleepy fishing village is now turned into a whirlwind of exclusive parties. Want to know the only time to go? You’ll just have to ask Dehouche.

Jose Ignacio may be discreet, but it’s unashamedly snobby and private parties are just that. Social networking on the beach during the daytime is essential if you don’twant to spend the evening sipping overpriced cocktails alone. With most of the social action taking place behind closed doors, there are still just a handful of restaurants to wait on the moneyed elite who frequent the resort and getting a table at the sole seafront lunch destination “ËœLa Huella’ is quite a feat. If you want to mingle with the well-heeled clientele, ask Dehouche to help you make a reservation. Equally, if you fancy dining barefoot in the sand, surrounded by torches at “Ëœsecret restaurant’ Dehouche can tell you how and where.

As Jose Ignacio continues to grow in popularity with cash laden Americans, Europeans and Brazilians, it’s difficult to say just how much longer it will retain the low key charms which attracted so many in the first place, especially with the imminent opening of both Fasano and Setai resorts. Dehouche recommend making an appearance before Jose Ignacio becomes the new Punta Del Este.

Let Dehouche arrange your luxury boutique hotel and enjoy a whole host of insider tips on where to truly escape from it all on your honeymoon.

Copacabana and Ipanema must be the most famous neighborhoods of Rio, garnering more than their fair share of international attention. Copacabana, although flooded with both hotels and people (curious fact: Copacabana’s streets could not actually accommodate all its residents should they all leave their apartments at the same time), but its heyday is well and truly over at the moment, no doubt it is set to return in the next years but for now it is best left to those who don’tknow any better.

Less crowded and leafier Ipanema has its appeal and today plays home to beautiful boutique hotel “ËœFasano Rio’, but Rio has other neighborhoods that are equally worth discovering. Luxury travel experts Dehouche base themselves in the more exclusive Leblon, which in recent years has surpassed Ipanema in terms of both aesthetic appeal and price, owing partly to the number of “Ëœnovelas’ (Rio’s trend setting soap operas) which have been based here, partly to the concentration of celebrities this has attracted and partly to the increasing number of upscale drinking and dining options that continue to spring up in this exclusive neighborhood.

Most international visitors gravitate towards these beachside areas, yet Dehouche confess that Leblon does not yet possess a hotel to really meet the needs of the discerning traveler. Take a luxury holiday with Dehouche however and they can help you discover other neighborhoods that can in fact offer even more character and charm and, if you’re looking to escape on your honeymoon, perhaps more importantly, a degree of privacy. Dehouche know the city inside and out, the entire team being resident in Rio some for all their live and other who have called it home just for a few years, so if you’re looking for a unique experience, Dehouche can help you find it.

Rio is celebrated for its incredible juxtaposition of the urban and the natural, but in Ipanema you’re more likely to hear the rush of traffic than the call of a monkey and its easy to forget the incredible environment you’re in. Dehouche work with several luxury boutique hotels, villas and even mansions based in more unusual locations, without compromising on convenience, so whether you want to be close to the action or relaxing in a secluded getaway, Dehouche know the perfect place.

Let Dehouche arrange your luxury boutique hotel and enjoy a whole host of insider tips on where to truly escape from it all on your honeymoon.
