Keep this in mind when you become a manager. As a manager you need to know how to get things done through the help of your employees; and how to keep those that excel in their position.</p>
<p>Good employees that are really serious in their jobs and are working with their utmost skills and capabilities are very rare to find. That is why you need to take good care of them by knowing how to reward their good work.</p>
<p>Follow these simple yet effective principles on how to give rewards to different employee characteristics toward work.</p>
<p>Reward real solutions, not quick fixes. Provide frequent feedback to employees and formally evaluate them each year. Then reward employees who contribute to these goals. </p>
<p>Reward smart work, not busy work. In many companies, people are rewarded for looking busy. Therefore, they invent all sorts of ways to look busy. If you reward results, however, you will get results.</p>
<p>Begin by putting the right people in the right jobs. Give them the tools they need, and fully explain what is expected of them. Tell everyone they will be rewarded for results. Encourage employees to spend a few minutes each morning organizing their time, including setting goals for the day.</p>
<p>Reward simplification, not complexity. In some companies, everything is complicated because those who make the habit of complicating things have been rewarded. </p>
<p>Reward quietly effective people, not squeaky wheels. Many managers reward complainers and ignore those who actually do the work. Seek out those who quietly do a good job. Take a sincere interest in them, and they will perform even better. Ignore the chronic complainers. </p>
<p>Reward quality work, not just fast work. Doing the job right the first time lower the costs, increases productivity, and increases work pride. <p>Reward loyalty. Enthusiastic long-term employees are the key to success in most companies. Reward loyalty by investing in continuing education for employees and promoting from within.  If the company is in a difficult financial position, avoid lay-offs by cutting across the board pay, if necessary.</p>
<p>Giving rewards does not just mean that you want to keep them in your company; but also means that you appreciate good ideas and good work that they are doing to make your company successful.</p>

That may sound intimidating; but actually, it isn’t. The most effective management techniques are really just a matter of common sense. Judge for yourself as you read through the suggestions that follow.</p>
<p>Give clear directions. Directing others requires good communication skills. Good communication is necessary in every level of management. Even the best employees won’tbe productive if they don’tknow what they are expected to do.</p>
<p>As a supervisor, like in printing business that offers folder printing services for example, you need to give all the direction required for each job. Ask for feedback to determine whether your directions are fully understood especially on the colors and designs of the order for folders. Usually you will need to repeat some of your directions, perhaps using a different approach. Encourage your employees to ask questions about your directions. Communication will improve dramatically when they feel comfortable doing this.</p>
<p>Train new employees well. All new employees need some on-the-job training and orientation. As a supervisor, you may train your new employees yourself or delegate the task. If you delegate the training to someone else, choose a person who knows the job well and is a good teacher. Then supervise the training. Make sure that all job duties are explained and that the new employees understand how to complete them.</p>
<p>Orienting new employees includes more than simply training them in their positions. It is important to make new employees feel valued and welcome to familiarize them with the working environment. Studies have shown that properly oriented employees are more satisfied with their work, more productive, and more likely to stay in the job.</p>
<p>Be consistent. When you have decided that a job must be done in a certain way, make certain that it is always done that way by every employee. Don’tmake exceptions unless there is a good reason to do so.</p>
<p>Treat employees fairly. Employees will be more productive if you treat them fairly. Set reasonable standards of performance that your employees can achieve. And apply those standards to everyone. Don’tgive special privileges to a few favorites.</p>
<p>Be firm when necessary. Sometimes supervising others requires a firm hand. Never let an employee take unfair advantage of you, the company, or another employee. Learn to be firm without losing your temper. </p>
<p>Consider employees welfare. Whenever possible, do what is best for your employees. Of course, you cannot and should not do everything they ask of you. You should, however, consider their welfare and show your willingness to treat them fairly. Do whatever you can to help them without sacrificing the amount or quality of work done. If appropriate, talk with your immediate supervisor about changes that will benefit your employees.</p>
<p>Set a good example. Set a good example in everything you do on the job. Doing this one simple thing will make your supervisory job much easier. </p>
<p>These are just some of the many effective management techniques but are the most important to help you manage your most important asset ““ your employees.</p>
