New Rochelle, January 24, 2014: The annual event of Relay for Life has been organized for last several decades in more than 6000 communities worldwide. The idea is to encourage public participation in the fight against cancer. Today, it is seen as a worldwide movement to end cancer and people participate in large numbers and donate money, to play their bit to support cancer survivors. This year, Relay For Life will take place at Albert Leonard Middle School, New Rochelle on 16th May, 7pm β€” 7am, and the American Cancer Society is again expecting a large number of participation from the public.

The event is a great opportunity for people to honor cancer survivors and pay a tribute to all those who lost their lives to this deadly disease. The American Cancer Society intends to create a wider level of public awareness about cancer and raise funds to support the research and development, in order to find a more effective cure to help eliminate the disease from the planet. The fund is also utilized for creating awareness and education and for the benefit and welfare of the cancer survivors. The annual event is quite different from a simple fundraising event, and its format is more interesting, engaging and satisfying for all who want to contribute in the movement against cancer.

Every year, millions participate in fundraising events to accumulate money to help save lives from cancer. In 2013, $1,400,000 was raised from the Westchester Region and the American Cancer Society is expecting even bigger generous fund gathering in 2014 which will enable them to carry out their programs with a greater speed and enthusiasm. Interested people can visit the Relay For Life website and can sign up for donating money. One can start a new team or can join an existing team as well. People can also register for Walk the Survivor Lap.

Megan McGrady of the American Cancer Society is very hopeful of a large number of participation in 2014. According to Megan, β€œ5 teams have already been participated to raise hundreds of dollars and it’s just a beginning.” People who are interested to participate may contact Megan for more details or visit the website http://relayforlife.org/newrochelleny .
