Orlando, FL — April 29, 2016 - Alcohol is one of the oldest and most popular beverages in the world. It is consumed during parties, gatherings, and events, but there are also those who take it on a daily basis. Unfortunately, excessive alcohol consumption is detrimental to overall health.

Chronic alcohol drinkers may benefit from the use of resveratrol. Alcohol can be beneficial especially when consumed moderately. However, in cases of alcoholism, this beverage can damage various organs of the body, especially the liver.

Over the years, scientists have been looking for some methods to find a treatment for fatty liver. Chronic alcohol abuse has been associated with fat buildup in the liver. Resveratrol is believed to protect the liver from damage.

Powerful antioxidants such as resveratrol can be found in grapes, red wine, peanuts, and berries. This antioxidant has been linked with health benefits for heart disease and cancer.

Joanne M. Ajmo from the University of South Florida Health Sciences Center in Tampa spearheaded a study. This study was published in The American Journal of Physiology-Gastrointestinal and Liver Physiology.

The researchers aimed at determining the effects of resveratrol in the alcoholic fatty livers of mice. It was found that the alcohol-fed mice treated with resveratrol achieved a reduction of fat in their livers.

It was also found that the breakdown of fat was faster than the alcohol-fed mice that did not receive resveratrol. Resveratrol is believed to have the ability to activate certain molecules, which are essential for fat metabolism in the liver.

These molecules are inhibited by chronic alcohol abuse. In the same study, there was improved activity of these molecules in alcohol-fed mice treated with resveratrol.

According to the researchers, the results of the study only demonstrate that resveratrol treatment has been able to offer protection against the onset of alcoholic fatty liver in mice.

Individuals who want to take advantage of the healing effects of resveratrol may consume it through supplementation. Of course, consumers should learn how exactly they can choose the right product considering that there are many weak resveratrol supplements out there.

Some of the most recommended resveratrol supplements also contain extracts of green tea, grape seed, red wine, and Acai fruit. The use of these therapeutic ingredients has also been associated with a myriad of health benefits.

One of the best ways to choose the right resveratrol supplement is to also ensure that it doesn’t contain artificial ingredients, fillers, binders, or silicone dioxide (http://amazon.com/Resveratrol-Supplement-Strength-Extract-capsules/dp/B019C0UU5S).
