03, March 2015: With the Euro falling to its lowest rate in 11 years last month, experts say there’s been an increase in Eurozone tourism. As the Euro dropped to the equivalent of £0.75, travel companies witnessed a tidal wave of last-minute purchases for February, with holidays becoming an average of 18% cheaper for UK residents.

A spokesperson from ABTOI’s renowned Love Italy website said, “Many people would love to treat their partner to a trip abroad for Valentine’s Day, but straight after Christmas it is often out of the question. We are happy to report that a combination of our offers and the drop in the Euro value seems to have made it possible for a record number of Brits to holiday in one of the most romantic places in the world.”

In terms of destinations in Italy, Verona has proven to be a popular choice for Valentine’s Day, with a host of festivals and events dedicated to celebrating the day of love. Italy has recently been suffering from a slight decline in tourism, but things have picked up considerably since January. Experts are confident that this trend will continue, even in the event of the Euro rising in value again.

Travel experts from Love Italy and other sites say that bookings in March have been reported as being remarkably higher than in the previous few years. The ever-popular World Expo is being hosted in Milan this May, which has already sold eight million tickets, adding to the hopes of tourism experts that this year will turn out to be profitable one for Italy.

The knock-on effect of the falling Euro is continuing to positively affect bookings throughout the rest of the year too, with experts speculating that the concern of the currency rates rising again has resulted in many people wanting to pay for their holiday at the time of booking rather than just the usual deposit.
