Orlando, FL — May 20, 2015 — Arthritis symptoms are one of the major problems that patients often face. However,  many treatment options are available nowadays that many patients find really advantageous for their condition and health.

Integrative clinics’ treatment methods are believed to be effective in treating arthritis symptoms. Medications such as drugs are often used by arthritis patients. However, many sufferers are still looking for other treatments, especially those who want to avoid the side effects of drugs.

The Arthritis Foundation has provided on its website the story of a patient who suffered from fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis in the lumbar spine. It stated that the patient, Patricia Divjak from San Diego, used anti-anxiety medications to ease the tension and pain in her muscles and lower back. In addition to drugs, she also resorted to yoga and massage.

“She discovered San Diego’s Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine when she decided she wanted a specialist that could help her use pain relief and stress reduction techniques together with the medications,” said VitaBreeze Supplements spokesperson, Michelle O’Sullivan.

Robert Bonakar, M.D., spent an hour going through some pain questionnaires and conducting a physical exam for Patricia and her husband. He believed that integrative medicine was about putting good minds, good ideas and good therapies together. He added that no therapist can actually address all types of pain.

The treatment involved using an integrative approach, which included conventional and alternative therapies. Dr. Bonakdar believed that patients should be encouraged to cope with pain through a variety of methods such as stretching, movement, stress reduction, biofeedback training and guided imagery techniques, in addition to the pain relief medication chosen by the patient.

Carol Young, M.D., Patricia’s rheumatologist, agreed that a well-rounded approach that is individually customized could work quite well, especially for patients like Patricia. According to her, the approach has been helpful for the patients, especially in muscle conditioning and stress management.

The Arthritis Foundation has also provided some details about what to expect at an alternative clinic. According to the organization, clinic appointments often take longer and this gives patients more time with the doctor. Physicians in the integrative clinics are also M.D.s trained in integrative medicine. Patients are advised to make sure the integrative clinic is board-certified in the field of rheumatology.

There are also other remedies that are popularly used by arthritis sufferers nowadays, and one is the glucosamine supplement. This natural alternative is believed to be very effective in providing pain relief and improving the mobility of individuals with arthritis (http://www.amazon.com/Glucosamine-Sulfate-Chondroitin-Supplement-Turmeric/dp/B00DUMO9X4/).
