Dr. Henry Wells of Wells Plastic Surgery & Skin Care in Lexington, KY is proud to offer Kybellaâ„¢, the first and only FDA-approved injectable to improve the appearance of submental fat or “double chin”.

Lexington, KY — September 7, 2015
Dr. Henry Wells, board-certified plastic surgeon and founder of Wells Plastic Surgery & Skin Care, a plastic surgery practice located in Lexington, KY, and Hazard, KY is excited to announce that he is now offering the newest cosmetic injectable, Kybellaâ„¢, a treatment for “double chins”. Kybellaâ„¢ is the first and only FDA-approved injectable that improves the profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin, also known as submental fat or fullness. Dr. Wells is the first plastic surgeon in the area to offer Kybella.

According to a 2014 survey conducted by the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, 68% of people said they’re bothered by under-the-chin fullness, or “double chin”, and they are just as bothered by it as they are by lines and wrinkles around their eyes. “Double chin” is a popular term for submental fullness, a common yet undertreated facial aesthetic condition that can impact a broad range of adults, including both women and men. Submental fullness can be caused by aging, genetics and weight gain, and it is often resistant to diet and exercise.

Kybellaâ„¢ is a non-surgical treatment with the active ingredient deoxycholic acid, a naturally-occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, Kybellaâ„¢ causes the destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat. Kybellaâ„¢ requires a series of injections spaced at least one month apart. Visible contouring of the chin can usually be achieved in 2 to 4 treatments, but some patients may require 6 treatments to experience the desired results. Kybellaâ„¢, similar to a Botox® injection, requires no numbing or sedation and takes minutes to administer. Once the chin profile has improved, another treatment may never be necessary. The most common side effects of Kybellaâ„¢ are swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness and areas of hardness in the treatment area.

Dr. Wells is thrilled to offer this new “double chin” treatment to his patients. For more information on Kybellaâ„¢ or to schedule a consultation with Dr. Wells at Wells Plastic Surgery & Skin Care, please call (859) 255-6649 or visit www.wellsplasticsurgery.com.
