19, September 2014: This year the Goldsmiths’ Fair has introduced an innovative element to its usual programme to complement the prestigious collection of top British gold and silversmiths whom its curators bring together under one roof. In the 31 years since the launch of this prestigious event it has grown in prominence and looks set to continue to do so.

Goldsmiths’ Fair 2014 has introduced a series of Breakfast Talks that are hosted and led by some of the most recognisable figures in the world of jewellery, silver and contemporary design. Breakfast talks are exactly what they say they are, talks over breakfast, which incidentally is included in the very reasonable £20 price. And as an added bonus, the ticket also includes a weeklong admission to the event which opens on 22 September until 5 October.

Organisers at Goldsmiths’ Fair are proud to present these special talks that revolve around design, handcrafted jewellery and silverware, but also touch on the heritage of jewellery, collecting it, creating bespoke commissions, and the wonderful, yet intriguing field of gemmology. Joanna Hardy from the Antiques Road Show will be there presenting a fascinating history that covers jewellery from the 1960s to the present day, as will Dr Beatriz Chadour-Sampson, who will be talking animatedly on the fashions in pearls. Anyone interested in jewellery design and gold and silversmithing cannot afford to miss out and the F&L Designer team, in particular, are looking forward to attending.

In addition to the Breakfast Talks, every afternoon a free informal chat session with one of the design experts will take place. These interesting conversation talks will see the chair converse with other craft and design personalities on subjects ranging from the design process itself and the inspiration behind an idea to the materials used in the making of jewellery and the trends in wearing it too.

L, the co-founder of F&L Designer Guides says, “We are really excited about the upcoming Goldsmiths’ Fair and with the new lectures and talks on offer we anticipate it will be a great success.” Places are limited on the Breakfast Talks so book in advance to ensure you don’t miss out.

Goldsmiths’ Fair is open to both collectors and those who prefer to buy on a whim, drawing them into this incredible exhibition of fine and contemporary jewellery and silverware. Many existing F&L Designer Guides members have been selected to exhibit at the event and it is the perfect opportunity to meet these designers and others who have the talent and the creative imagination to shape your perfect engagement ring.
