Classic Cottages customers renting one of their properties in Cornwall this November might be excited by the chance to attend a TV filming of the BBC Children in Need special, at a museum in Falmouth.

The filming, which will be broadcast in the Southwest region of England, will take place on November 15th at the National Maritime Museum of Cornwall (NMMC). The live feed will have two dedicated slots in the BBC1 programming (at 1.30pm and 6.30pm), and live links to the broadcast will also be screened throughout the evening.

The event will be open to the general public who can mingle with the fundraisers themselves as well as with the charity’s mascot, Pudsey the teddy bear. The evening is scheduled to accommodate several live musical performances (to take place in the museum’s main hall) as well as arts and crafts sessions catering for children. More daring guests can also try abseiling (commonly known as rappelling) from the museum’s tower. The highlight of the festivities, however, looks set to be the contribution to the national performance by the BBC’s southwest region children’s choir, made up of 200 children from across Cornwall. If you and your family are staying in one of Cornwall’s classic cottages, be sure to get involved.

Representatives of the museum have declared themselves very excited at the prospect of hosting Pudsey and his benefactors for this event. After hosting the Antiques Roadshow last year, the staff of the NMMC is looking forward to another chance to give their institution, as well as the Falmouth region as a whole, higher national visibility.

The National Maritime Museum of Cornwall is presently celebrating its 10th anniversary. It contains fifteen galleries spread across five floors, all with hands-on exhibitions centring on boats, the sea, and Cornwall. Perhaps the most visually striking element of the museum, however, is the flotilla of boats hanging from the ceiling in the main hall, from under which the children’s choir will be giving its performance on November 15th.

As for Children in Need, it is an annual charitable appeal made by the British Broadcasting Corporation, with funds going towards helping disabled children and teenagers across the UK. Since it was first launched in 1980 the appeal has managed to raise over £600 million. Classic Cottages customers are bound to enjoy this exciting event held this yea in Cornwall.
