A pink engagement ring was one of the unique, bespoke items of jewellery included in a list recently drawn up by media giant and influential fashion commentator, The Los Angeles Times.

The listed piece was created by an Ojai-based designer, and consists of a 14-carat rose gold bezel setting and band topped by a heart-shaped aquamarine. The effect is at once exquisite, unique and sophisticated.

This is not, however, the only representation of pink gold on The LA Times’ list. While not a pink engagement ring per se, another creation, this one by a Beverly Hills designer, features a pink tourmaline as one of its inset stones. The gem is combined, in this visually unique piece, with an amethyst, with both stones in a diamond pave setting atop a yellow gold band.

In fact, gold is perhaps the most popular material among the designers chosen by the California newspaper to feature in this round-up. Many of the baubles included in the selection are based around bands made of either 14-carat or 18-carat gold, with yellow gold in particular proving quite popular among this particular group of jewellers. A potential reason for this is the predicted resurgence of this precious metal as the leading material for jewellery bands for the upcoming season, as mentioned by many experts in the field.

Some of the other stunning designs featured in this collection included a stunning 18-carat, micro-pave jewel in the shape of an arrow piercing a heart, as well as a visually unique piece comprised of eight 18-carat gold balls arranged around a rose-cut diamond. Medieval and Baroque-influenced rings also make an appearance on this list, offering potential engagement ring buyers a glimpse at designs that purposely ‘think outside the box’.

The LA Times is one of the largest newspapers in America, alongside periodicals such as the New York Times.
