Orlando, FL — January, 2016 — The heart is one of the most important parts of the body. Unfortunately, many people live place their hearts at risk by living unhealthy diet and lifestyle. The good news is that there is a spice called turmeric, which people can incorporate to their diet to take care of their heart health more.

Research reveals the potential heart-saving effects of turmeric. Turmeric is one of the oldest and most therapeutic spices nowadays. Its healing effects are thought to come from its active ingredient called curcumin, which contains antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties.
“Today, many people are relying on curcumin supplements to improve their immunity against a range of ailments,” said Divine Bounty spokesperson, Melissa Scott.
According to the recent study published by the Nutrition Journal, turmeric can significantly contribute to the improvement of overall health. The study’s title is “A Single consumption of curry improved postprandial endothelial function in healthy male subjects: a randomized, controlled crossover trial.”

A group of researchers conducted a study involving 14 healthy participants who had an average age of 45 years. They were divided into two groups and the first were given a spice-free control meal. The second group had a single serving of curry meal.

The researchers aimed at determining the effects of each diet on the blood vessels before and after eating. In the post-meal measurements, it was found that consumption of curry dishes was associated with the increase in the blood flowing through the blood vessels.

The study also revealed that the curry diet has successfully increased the postprandial flow-mediated vasodilation (FMD). On the other hand, those in the curry-free control group had reduced blood flow.

The study has led the researchers to believe that curry, which has curcumin, has the potential to prevent the undesirable effects of eating food. It could prevent the contraction of the blood vessels’ inner lining called endothelium.

Curcumin also contains antioxidant properties, which are thought to help prevent cardiovascular events. This phytochemical is also believed to fight lifestyle-related conditions such as atherosclerosis and diabetes.

“Turmeric powder or curcumin supplements can be incorporated in one’s diet,” added Scott.

There are pharmaceutical drugs available nowadays. However, more and more people are turning to the use of natural alternatives such as curcumin.

Curcumin has been found to be highly therapeutic. However, it also has low bioavailability, and this means its absorption inside the human body is limited. There are popular curcumin supplements that contain BioPerine, which is a bioavailability-enhancing ingredient (amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-BioPerine-Pepper-Extract/dp/B00VSVKJ8I/).
