Orlando, FL— August 4, 2015 — Heart diseases are some of the most fatal conditions that are claiming millions of lives from around the world. There are pharmaceutical drugs that are used to fight the condition. However, a natural alternative called turmeric is being studied nowadays for its therapeutic benefits for the heart.

Research reveals turmeric has heart-saving properties. The therapeutic benefits of turmeric are believed to come from its phytochemical called curcumin. Curcumin contains anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antioxidant properties, which are associated with a myriad of health benefits.

“There are curcumin supplements available nowadays that are believed to be helpful for a wide variety of conditions,” said Divine Bounty spokesperson, Melissa Scott.

In a study published in the American Diabetes Association, it was found that the spice is 100 percent effective for avoiding the development of type 2 diabetes among subjects who were prediabetics. The participants were treated with curcumin for six months. The title of the study is called a “Reduction of atherogenic risk in patients with type 2 diabetes by curcuminoid extract: a randomized controlled trial,” and it was published in its journal called Diabetes Care.

A new placebo-controlled, 6-month randomized clinical trial was conducted in Thailand. It involved 226 individuals with type 2 diabetes, who were divided into two groups. The researchers aimed at studying the ability of curcumin to help prevent the onset of atherosclerosis.

It was found that those who took curcumin experienced liver function improvements. This is, however, not very surprising since the spice has long been believed to have healing properties favorable to the liver. The subjects also experienced a reduction in BMI, weight circumference, blood glucose profiles, body weight, and lipid profiles. The curcumin group also experienced an increase in HDL-C.

There were many benefits believed to be offered by curcumin. There were studies that revealed curcumin has the potential to lessen total cholesterol, fasting plasma glucose, glycated red blood cells, and LDL-C and increase HDL-C. The study involved a 6-month treatment, and according to the authors, curcumin had been able to benefit type 2 diabetes sufferers who were exposed to antiatherogenic risk. According to the researchers, curcumin extract has the potential to be used as against arterosclerosis among individuals with type 2 diabetes.

Curcumin supplements are widely available nowadays, and they are used by many people who suffer from certain conditions or want to increase their immunity against diseases. Curcumin has low bioavailability, but when it is combined with a bioavailability enhancing ingredient such as BioPerine, its absorption inside the body becomes efficient (http://amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-BioPerine-Extract-Vegetarian/dp/B00VSVKJ8I).
