Experts advised the use of dust mite resistant memory foam pillow for people with allergic rhinitis and asthma.

Hundreds of dust mites can fit in one gram of dust, the Canadian news outlet CTV News explained in its recent report on microscopic “spiders” crawling on pillows and beds known as dust mites.

Not exactly spiders, dust mites are only a distant relatives of the eight-legged creature. Known for being so tiny, in one bed alone there can be millions of them crawling. Dust mites are known to cause various allergies. From itchy rashes on the skin to allergic rhinitis and even severe asthma, dust mite is one of the primary allergens of some of the most well-known allergies.

Dust mites feed on dead skin cells that are found sticking on mattresses and back pillow for bed. When a person sleeps, he unknowingly breathes in thousands of living dust mites and their fecal materials, which immediately irritate the respiratory system. These often results to bouts of allergic rhinitis or much more severe asthma.

The Asthma Society of Canada, in an interview done by CTV news, explained that at least one in five persons has respiratory allergies characterized by a year-round runny nose and sniffles. Such allergies are known as “perennial allergic rhinitis” and are typically caused by an allergy to dust mites. Among people with asthma, 75 to 80% are known to also suffer from allergic rhinitis caused by dust mites.

The Asthma Society recommended the sufferers of allergies to invest wisely on the type of back pillow for bed they buy. They explained that along with the pillow’s ability to support the back, it is very important to check if the back pillow for bed is also dust mite resistant.

A good example of a pillow with dual advantages of dust mite resistant and supportive properties is the Shredded Memory Foam Pillow from My Perfect Nights.
