Some student will be travelling a little differently this Christmas by shipping their belongings and presents ahead rather than taking them on the Train or Plane.

Uni Baggage, a student shipping company which was set up my Paul Stewart while he was at University, specialises in moving students luggage around the world. Uni Baggage collects the students belongings from their accommodation at Uni and delivers it home to them within 48 hours in the UK. Uni Baggage offers a full tracking services as well email and SMS alerts. Uni Baggage ships within the UK and to over 200 countries worldwide.

Ciara from Belfast uses the service regularly and says:

“I send my bag home with  Uni Baggage each term. I travel with a number of bags and it is much cheaper that paying the excess baggage fees. I can also sail through the airport with just hand luggage stress free.”

A survey of 2,000 students carried out by Uni Baggage found that on average a student transports approximately 50kg (seven stone) of personal effects. The heaviest weight couriered in one transaction last September was 300kg.

And the strangest item Uni Baggage has been asked to ship was a human skeleton for a biology student. Women send more than their male counterparts — 75kg (approximately 11 stone), often more than their own body weight.

Uni Baggage is an online business and all prices and routes can be viewed online. You can find out more about them and get a quote by visiting their website www.unibaggage.com
