26, February 2015: The French ski resort of Meribel is hosting the World Cup Skiing Finals in a few weeks, providing a fantastic spectacle for anyone planning a holiday skiing in the Alps. This major event will take place in the resort from March 18 to 22, and as many as 70,000 spectators are expected to enjoy the action.

Thrills and Spills of the World Cup

The best ski racers in the world will be in attendance, competing across a total of five disciplines: Slalom, Super G, Giant Slalom, Downhill and the Team Event. Races will take place on the Roc de Fer piste, and large screens will be set up at the bottom for spectators to enjoy all the action.

A spokesperson from top accommodation experts, Ski Amis, says this is the perfect time to plan a holiday skiing in the Alps. “The atmosphere in the resort will be fantastic, with plenty of extra events and festivities planned.” Organisers remain optimistic that lack of snow will not cause any problems, and say that everything will be done to ensure that the piste will be in the best condition possible for the event. Hundreds of volunteers have signed up to work at the event, both on the mountain and off.

Meribel is no stranger to important events. In August it held the Mountain Bike World Cup, which was deemed a huge success, and, more recently, the Forces Snow Sports Championships was held in the resort.

The spokesperson from Ski Amis said that Meribel is a popular destination, year in year out, as it offers excellent skiing in the Alps and plenty of exciting social and sporting events.

Travellers planning a holiday to enjoy the action of the World Cup Skiing Finals are advised to book their accommodation as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
