For the outdoor types Bali is a great place to explore. As a volcanic island, it is green and lush, and the beaches turn into to countryside covered in paddy fields. These lie at the foot of Bali's mountains, dominated by the huge but dormant Mount Agung. Anyone interested in seeing an easily accessible active volcano can climb the smouldering Mount Batur in less than two hours.
