Orlando, FL— Sept. 22, 2016 — Curcumin is a powerful phytochemical found in turmeric, which is an ancient spice. It is thought to offer a range of health benefits and may even help to protect the body from a range of medical conditions as well as environmental pollutants.

Fluoride’s poisonous effects on the brain can potentially be aided by curcumin. Fluoride exposure almost seems inevitable nowadays. It can be found nearly everywhere from toothpastes to drinking water. Unfortunately, there are certain drawbacks in using fluoride.

Quite a number of studies and debates have already been discussing the neurotoxicity of fluoride. It is thought to be detrimental to brain health, and even have IQ-lowering properties. Fluoride was previously used to lobotomize prisoners of the Nazi and Russian concentration camps. While it is widely added in municipal drinking water, many countries worldwide are resorting to measures to reduce and eventually eliminate the use of the substance.

In a new study authored by The Department of Zoology, University College of Science, M.L. Sukhadia University researchers - “Curcumin attenuates neurotoxicity induced by fluoride: An in vivo evidence,” published in Pharmacology Magazine, it was found that fluoride can be a brain-damaging substance. It also reveals that curcumin has the potential ability to fight the detrimental effects of fluoride.

The researchers have been trying to figure out how fluoride makes neurodegenerative changes in the brain. The use of fluoride has already been considered to be one of the more well-recognized problems around the world. Unfortunately, it has been associated with neurological diseases, adverse reproductive activities, cancers, and cardiovascular diseases.

According to researchers, curcumin is a polyphenol that may also be considered to be a neuroprotective substance. Previous studies even reveal that it may contain antioxidant properties that could offer protection against hyrodyxl radicals, singlet oxygen, and superoxide radical damage.

Curcumin is also believed to have the ability to increase the endogenous glutathione production in the brain, which is deemed to be an excellent antioxidant defense system.

Curcumin has long been believed to possess potential therapeutic qualities. It is even thought to be the major source of most of turmeric’s more notable abilities. Curcumin contains substances that are believed to have anti-carcinogenic, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antiseptic properties.

Today, individuals who want to take advantage of the potential benefits of curcumin may resort to using supplements. There are even curcumin supplements with a black pepper extract called piperine, which is extremely popular nowadays.

Piperine may be considered to be a bioavailability-enhancing ingredient that may help to increase the delivery of curcumin’s potential benefits inside the body.
