DCPD products may be best characterised as highly reactive intermediates since they react readily with other monomers and find application in the production of resins, alkyds, acrylates, latexes and other specialty intermediates. The major use is in resins, particularly, hydrocarbon resins and unsaturated polyester resins. It is also used in insecticides, as a hardener and dryer in linseed and soybean oil, and in the production of EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) elastomers, metallocenes, resins, varnishes, and paints.
