LEARN THE TRUTH THAT INSPIRED ANCIENT MYTHOLOGY
RESTON, VIRGINIA, November 15, 2016 — Before the Roman Empire... Before Ancient Egypt... There existed a wondrous place... ATLANTIS. In R. L. Akers’ new fictional bestseller, Atlantis: Twilight of Mankind, he weaves a story of gods, demigods, and the mortal men and women caught in between.
Akers welcomes his readers to the most magnificent city of the ancient world, a metropolis governed directly by the gods, hotbed of innovation and experimentation in the realms of engineering, politics, and genetics.
D'Akaio is the son of a god, and not just any god — R'ZUUS, one of the Four. But D'Akaio's father is not content with being one of many; he craves preeminence. The tasks he sets before his son will shift the balance of power and give rise to one of the greatest legends of the ancient world, inspiring many of the stories we recognize from Greco-Roman mythology.
Adana is half sister to D'Akaio. Unlike her daring brother, no immortal blood flows through her veins. She is just a girl, content to find joy in her quiet existence. But the City is a dangerous place for one such as she, home to many who are accustomed to taking what they want. She will find herself swept up in events outside her control, party to a conflict older than time itself.
Little do they know, there is another player in this game. And Atlantis does not fit into his plans...
R.L. Akers loves stories. He loves hearing them, loves telling them, loves embellishing them, and loves forging them from raw materials. He is convinced that every person who ever lived has an interesting story, and he’s only met one person in his life who came close to proving otherwise.
Holder of an undergraduate degree in computer science and a master’s degree in business administration, Akers has worked in software development as well as non-profit fundraising and publicity. His love for children has led him in the past to be a foster parent and a coordinator of the K-5 ministry at his church, and he currently invests time each week in the lives of local high schoolers. His interests include graphic design, orchestral movie soundtracks, and anything remotely creative.
