Orlando, FL — December 16, 2015 — Turmeric is a medicinal spice believed to be extremely beneficial for overall health. It has been used for thousands of years, especially in traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine. Turmeric is also thought to have the potential to aid individuals who suffer from tumors.

Researchers reveal the five ways turmeric fights uterine fibroids. Otherwise known as uterine leiomyomas, these benign tumors are common among women who are in their reproductive age.

Women who suffer from uterine fibroids typically experience symptoms such as abdominal pain, heavy periods, frequent urination, and problems in their reproductive health. It has not been known what causes the condition, but overweight or obese individuals are believed to be more likely to suffer from the condition.

Uterine fibroids may also cause pain during intercourse. If not properly addressed, they can cause miscarriages or infertility.
“It is believed that the therapeutic benefits of turmeric come from its phytochemical called curcumin,” said Divine Bounty spokesperson, Melissa Scott.
Curcumin contains various therapeutic properties such as the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties. It is thought to fight uterine fibroids in various ways.

First, it has an inhibitory effect on uterine tumor cell proliferation. PPAR-Y ( perisome proliferators activated receptor-gamma) is a human receptor that activates when bound with inflammatory molecules.

Curcumin is thought to bind with PPAR-Y and activate it, which results in the prevention of unnecessary and excessive uterine tissue overgrowth.

To address uterine fibroids, it is not enough to stop the overgrowth, but patients also need to have the lumps removed. The body has the ability to kill its own cells, the process of which is called apoptosis or programmed cell death.

According to research, curcumin has the potential to induce apoptosis in the cells that form tumors in the uterine fibroids. This is believed to naturally control and heal the disorder.

The uterine fibroids are cellular tumors that result in the development of fibrosis. According to experts, curcumin has the potential to control the fibroid tissue growth and stop the process involved in the hardening of fibroids.

Curcumin is also thought to help with stopping the blood flow that feeds the tumor cells. It inhibits the development of blood vessels in the lumps, which causes a shortage of oxygen supply resulting in their death. As an inflammatory-agent, curcumin also works by monitoring or reducing the inflammation in the uterine tissues.

Uterine fibroids sufferers may take advantage of the potential therapeutic effects of curcumin. There are curcumin supplements available in the market today, they can be bought online or at local health stores (amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-BioPerine-Pepper-Extract/dp/B00VSVKJ8I).
